DC day trip
After looking for the two main exhibits, I walked around some more and explored the Ocean Hall, the Human Origins exhibit, and the Hope Diamond exhibit. I would prioritize updating the exhibits based on how long they have been in the museum. The older exhibits would get updated first. I think they should keep the majority of the features from the original exhibit like the Bones hall, but should definitely consider implementing more immersive exhibits and descriptions of the fossils. I think the museum is targeting a younger audience, around elementary school age. I saw that many of the exhibits had very simplified descriptions of what was on display which shows their target audience. The museum could potentially reach a broader audience by adding more in depth descriptions and explanations to certain exhibits . They could also make entirely new exhibits with current events and issues around the world that only an older audience would be interested in or aware of. One of the “must see” exhibits in this museum was definitely the Human Origins exhibit because it provided a very interesting look back at where we all came from and how we reached the evolutionary point that we are at today. I loved going to NYC last semester so I think that excursion should definitely continue. I think trips to any major city would make for a great experience.
